Castiel didn't understand why Dean found what had happened funny. Though Dean or Sam often found things that he did were funny. "Don't worry about it. They'll get over it. Go get the ingredients for the spell. Cas, I'll call you if anything unusual turns up.""Okay Dean." The Angel said then disappeared. He went to the Winchester's motel room. He picked up the journal and flipped to the spell. He read the ingredients and disappeared starting to gather them. First was wormwood, which was easy enough to find. He peeled the bark off the sapling it came off of and placed it in a container he had brought. Then the angel needed some black cat hair. He appeared near a cat who started to panic. "Relax, I'm here on a mission." he told the cat, who tried to run as he scooped it up. It tried to scratch and bite him to no avail, "I apologize for the inconvenience." He explained to the cat after taking a tuft of his fur. Then was flobberworm mucus. That was joyful. Gillyweed. A weed that grew underwater. He appeared at the bottom of a deep lake and grabbed a few handfuls just encase. He emerged soaking wet. Last was Nightshade, which happened to be growing at the edge of the lake. By the time he finished it was night time. He appeared next to Sam still soaking wet offering the ingredients he had collected in a few large jars.

"...well, bye." Sam was left standing all by himself in the middle of the park as Cas vanished and Dean wandered off to audition for his "new job". He watched the people around them interacting normally with each other, completely unaware of anything other than their own lives. Sam had longed for that kind of naivety for most of his life growing up. To be completely and blissfully oblivious to all the dark things out there. To just be able to go to an amusement park with your parents, siblings or friends and enjoy life. A tall blond woman walked past and winked at him. He smiled at her in return but made no move to follow her. He was too concerned about the possibility of Dean getting hurt during this undercover gig.
He continued people-watching until night fell and Cas was reappearing at his side with a jarful of the correct spell ingredients. "Thanks Cas." He eyed the soaking angel. "You gonna dry off" he asked after a second's pause. It wasn't really like he was concerned that the angel would get sick or anything since he wasn't even sure angels COULD get sick, but it was more the fact that standing there in a trench coat and dripping water was drawing a lot of attention from people as they left the park, headed home for the evening.
It wasn't exactly typical amusement park attire that's for sure.
"Thanks Cas. You gonna dry off?" Castiel looked down at himself, not even really realizing that he was wet. It just didn't really occur to him or bother him. "That would be wise." he said thoughtfully and was gone again. The dripping angel appeared in the bathroom at Sam and Dean's motel. He pulled off his trench coat and attempted to ring it out. It helped a little, it was now damp. He did the same with the rest of his clothes and pulled them back on, he was still wet, but still damp. Not noticing he left the bathroom soaked. Now what was left to do? Wait for Dean to call? Or wait for another attack to happen under their noses?

Sam made his way back to the motel room after a few minutes. He found Cas there, much drier than he had been. The bathroom was a different story. Chuckling, he unloaded his armful of ingredients onto the small wooden table in the middle of the room. "Any word from Dean?" ~~~
The director of the circus was a middle aged man who was highly impressed with Dean's ability to throw knives at targets from almost any range and hit them all perfectly. He hired him almost immediately. "I do have to ask though" Dean had thrown out casually as the director walked Dean towards a trailer that would be his living quarters while with the circus. "I've heard a few rumors about some bad luck falling on this circus...something to do with the performers getting sick or something?" He was very vague on purpose.
The director's face fell. "Ah, yes. We've had some unusually unfortunate accidents lately. That's the reason we're hiring so late in our season. You don't want to change your mind about the job do you?" He had looked panicked at the thought of losing such an interesting new act. Dean shook his head with an attempt at a smile. "Of course not. I'm used to unusual."
"Trust me."

"Not as of yet,"Castiel answered Sam. He was confident in the three of their abilities that they could stop this creature. It would be tough but they could do it.
~ [random persons POV]
She awoke in a glass case. She didn't remember practicing her trick, the last thing she remembered was going to bed after a long day of crying over the loss of her friends/ coworkers. The woman didn't notice till now that the glass case was filling with water rather quickly, until her head was under water. Panic ran through her. She pounded on the glass and automatically tried to call out for help. Bubbles tilled the case. How had she gotten in here? The hose was being picked up and pulled away by nothing. Through the blurr of the water and the glass she saw an odd shadowy figure start to move away from the case. She pounded harder to no avail. The lights were fading and she was starting to loose consciousness, trying to fight the need to breathe in when she could not.

Dean couldn't exactly explain the sudden block of dread sweeping over him. He just knew in the amount of time that it took him and the carnival director to walk the ten steps from the main tent to his "sleeping quarters" (he would actually be booking it out of that skeevy place as soon as the director looked away. No way was he actually sleeping there) that something was very wrong nearby. "Thank you for your help." He quickly excused himself from the director's side and sped-walked towards the tent that seemed to be pulling him towards it. Stepping inside, his eyes landed first on the terrified girl in a locked glass cage filling quickly with water, and then on a somewhat shadowy figure which melted away into nothingness at Dean's loud entrance.
He knew this was the point in time that he should call for Cas...he had promised the angel and his brother that he would be careful...but the girl was losing consciousness fast. He didn't have time for anyone else to help; he had to do it alone. So he scooped up the first sharp, heavy object he could find, which turned out to be a fireplace poker (he wasn't entirely sure why it was there but he wasn't questioning it) and smashed through the glass, careful to avoid hitting the unconscious girl on the head. She, and gallons of water, came pouring out at a rapid speed. Dean tossed aside the poker and caught the girl, laying her gently on the ground and feeling for a pulse, ignoring how wet he had just gotten. It was faint but it was there. She was still alive. Dean straightened up, preparing to call for Cas...
And everything went black.

Something was happening again. Castiel could feel it. After a moment, the feeling had ceased. Had Dean taken care of the problem, whatever was happening at the circus? He was waiting for a call from Dean as he had promised. There wasn't one. "Something is happening, or happened," he said his voice distant, his mind elsewhere obviously. He waited to see if the feeling continued again. Then Danger. And the angel was gone, leaving Sam in the motel alone. When Castiel appeared in the circus, the ground was wet and full of glass. He saw a woman lying unconscious on the ground, she was still alive. He then saw Dean who was also knocked out, and he saw something else. A shadowy creature that seemed to spot him. He had only saw him for a moment, when it was close to Dean. He wasn't sure what to do. Trying to grab for the invisible creature didn't seem like it would do anything, since he really couldn't see it. He wondered for a split second and raised a hand, the bright light of his power lit up the room entirely. But it had no effect, he had seen the shadowy creature for a moment... and knew it had just left on its own accord. Annoyance pulsed through the angel for a moment but he went over to the two humans that were laying on the floor. "Dean?" he spoke. He was also annoyed that Dean hadn't called him in the first place. What he assumed had happened was the woman had been trapped in the glass box which Dean had broken, to save her and the creature had still been there.

Sam's ears perked up when Cas mentioned something was happening. His expression was distant, concentrating hard on whatever he was picking up with his whole supernatural extra-strength senses thing. "Something with Dean" he wanted to know anxiously but Cas vanished without answering. "Cas!" ~~~
The shadowy creature had been about to swoop in for the kill on both Dean and the girl when Cas arrived. It hesitated for a brief moment and then vanished before the angel could exterminate it.
Dean lifted his head slowly from the water-soaked floor, blinking rapidly and trying to orient himself. There was a dull throbbing in his skull, indicating he must have hit his head when falling. Still feeling a little groggy, he slowly got to his feet, offering a weak smile to Cas. To be honest, the angel looked pretty pissed. In order to avoid any awkward moments, Dean leaned over to touch the girl on her shoulder gently, trying to shake her awake. Her eyes fluttered open, and she gave a panicked start. "It's ok" Dean reassured her. "My friend here is going to get you home." He looked pointedly at Cas, basically trying to say without words that they could argue about Dean's not being careful enough later, when the girl was safe and sound at home.
Probably with years of therapy bills ahead of her but still. Safe.

The humans were okay. For now that's all that mattered, Dean gave him a weak smile, and Cas returned it with a stern look. His mind moved back to Sam for a moment, who was probably pissed about him just leaving Sam hanging. It wasn't that Castiel didn't care, but there were more important things at hand. Dean had moved to wake the woman, she awoke in a panic. There was fear on her face and in her eyes. She wasn't injured except a few small cuts from the glass that had been shattered. The angel considered whether or not he should he them. "My friend here is going to get you home. " He glanced toward Dean, then moved forward offering a hand to help the woman up, she took it warily, as if she was considering that these were the people who put her in the glass box in the first place. As she stood up, he touched her forehead, she fell asleep, he was holding her up with an arm, and healed her wounds. "I will be back." he stated his tone ridged. Then with the girl he disappeared. Taking her home. Maybe to the human it could seem like a bad dream? Less traumatic? A surreal dream? There were no more woman's and she was now home in bed.
How was this creature targeting people? Maybe there was a pattern? Obviously it had something to do with the workers. He returned to Dean, "What happened exactly?"

Dean had no time to think things through before Cas was back. And he still looked pissed. "I got here and the shadow demon was heading for her." He stepped around a puddle, crossing towards Cas. "She would have been dead in another second, I had to get her out of there" he explained, not particularly (outwardly) fazed by the rigidness to both Cas' expression and posture. This was certainly not the first time, nor would it be the last he was sure, that he and the angel had disagreed on something. Sure, they had a family-like relationship most times, but that meant nothing. As was proven by the many fights he had gotten into with his actual family. Well, brother, at any rate.
Speaking of which. "Where's Sam?" He wrung some water out of his sleeve, heading for the exit. Just as he got there, the door was flung open and Sam burst in, panting. He had clearly just run from the motel back to the carnival to make sure everything was ok. "What happened" he finally managed to gasp out. "It got away" Dean replied, shooting Cas a look which clearly read, "which wasn't my fault". Because it wasn't.
Sort of.

"I got here and the shadow demon was heading for her."
[/b] Dean had explained. If he could've gotten there sooner maybe he could've caught the damn thing himself. He doubted he could vanquish the demon though. It had managed to escape. He could see demons, almost all demons. But not this one. It seemed to be a special case. He also didn't understand why he had such a specific feeling about this demon. Why was his senses being alerted? There were demons everywhere. Why this one? It didn't make much sense. The angel was getting frustrated at the prospect that he had not been able to catch this demon. it had escaped before he could send his light through the room. "She would've been dead in another second, I had to get her out of there." Yes the human was important, but so was Dean. He had told him out right to call him if something was happening. For now all they could do was work on the spell and try and catch this demon.
"Where's Sam?" Dean asked. Once again Castiel had forgotten about updating Sam on the current situation. A lot of the time, Sam seemed to be the last thing on his mind. But he did feel somewhat bad that he hadn't alerted him. But before he could answer, Sam had burst through the doors. Sam was breathing very hard. Probably having run from the motel to the carnival. "What happened?[/b]= Sam had huffed out, still breathing hard.
"It got away." Dean explained, and gave Castiel a look that pretty much said that it wasn't his fault. Cas narrowed his eyes for a moment, but then his face cleared of emotion. "Yes the demon got away. But it seems as if at certain points you could see the shadowy figure. We need to finish that spell, and wait for it to select its next victim. Since you ruined its last hunt, I assume that you will be the next to be hunted." He told Dean in a serious tone. [/color][/blockquote][/blockquote]

Sam looked back and forth between Cas and Dean, feeling a little left out of the loop, and not for the first time with those two. They were staring at each other. Cas had expanded upon Dean's initial information, although he was still looking at Dean rather than Sam. Dean seemed a little on edge, but that was a typical emotion for the older Winchester. So Sam, having caught his breath, stepped between them. Cas had just announced rather gravely that Dean would most likely be the next hunted since he had gotten between the demon and its last target. Dean did not look particularly bothered by this fact. In fact, he almost looked relieved. As though thankful that no one else might get hurt in a trap for this thing. A muscle ticked in his jaw.
"Bring it on."
