Vincent ducked down immediately to help the customer pick up her things. “How about we just call it a tie and say neither of us was really paying attention?” he asked with a small laugh. It was such a habit of his. When someone wouldn’t let him take all the blame, he would insist on the blame being equal. It was something that got on a lot of people’s nerves, or so he was told. He’d thought about it, but he didn’t think it was a habit that he would want to get rid of, despite how much it apparently annoyed other people. Vincent just couldn’t wrap his mind around letting someone else completely take the blame for something.
He helped her collect her belongings and stood up with her. It was difficult to miss the fact that there was a common theme in all of the items that the young woman was buying. As far as he could tell, they all seemed to be sheet music for vocals. When she spoke, he caught onto her accent. It was subtle, but it was definitely there. She definitely wasn’t from around the area. He handed her the things that he had collected for her.
Vincent nodded slightly and glanced around the shop. He wouldn’t have called it a big shop, but, of course, it depended on what she was used to. George’s shop was a little small, compared to some of the music shops that Vincent had been to in the past. He turned to look back at the customer with a smile on his face. “Yeah, I guess it’s a pretty decent size. We’ve got a pretty nice selection of…pretty much everything. The owner’s a little neurotic about that kind of thing,” he said with a small laugh,”So are you new in town or something?”
