Charlie frowned as she glanced at the kid next to her, they needed to find a way out of the barn fast. That demon wasn't going to take long to find them at the speed it was going. Sure enough, before her breathing could even return to normal the sound of the barn doors crashing open filled the air. There was no amount of video games or LARPing that could have prepared her for the complete and utter fear she felt right now. Hunting monsters and playing the hero was so much easier in video games, when the very real threat of death walking around in the same room as you.
It isn't like Charlie had never got herself in a potentially life threatening monster problem before. She didn't have two big hunters this time though, it was just her and who she assumed was Kevin. Mind you, Kevin seemed perfectly capable of holding his own so far. It obvious by his seemingly controlled demeanour that this wasn't his first run in with a demon. Which explains why he was looking at the database earlier. She tilted her the side as Kevin moved his hands around, taking a moment to catch onto the plan. It's not like Charlie wanted to go running out in front of demons, that was the last thing she ever wanted to do. However, there weren't exactly many options here. Sit and wait for the demon to find them, or catch the demon by surprise.
She tightened her grip on the gun as Kevin quickly moved around the barrels of hay to the other side of the big stack. 'Just think of it as a game.' Charlie thought as she moved down her side of the barrels, watching as he jumped out in front of the barrels. 'Just a game, just a game.' She followed Kevin's lead and jumped from behind the barrels, instinctively pulling the trigger to the water gun as the demon looked at both of them. It looked just like the scene back at the shop, the loud sizzling noise coming from the demons skin... the smoke... She just stood there for a moment stunned at the sight in front of her, before a light push forward snapped her back to reality. They needed to get out of that barn, now. Charlie bolted to the doors as fast as she could, looking behind her shoulder in time to the roof starting to come down around them. "Not a game, not a game." Charlie though out loud, both of them making it out of the doors just in time to see the roof of the barn block the path to the door.
"Well you sure know how to make a exit." She joked, her eyes slowly moving from the broken wreckage of the former barn to Kevin as he spoke. While Charlie may not be the resident demon expert, she knew that he had a very valid point. It didn't take a rocket scientist to know that the moment that demon saw her face that life had gotten much more complicated. If those things know that Charlie knew anything about Kevin and they really wanted him this bad it put her in a very bad spot. "Well what direction are we going in now Speedy?"
