It was yet another busy day at the florist shop. The season was gradually changing, which meant that so many shops, hotels, and individuals were picking out different bouquets to follow along with the appropriate colors. The daisies and tulips were being exchanged for mums and roses. It was getting to be the florist’s busy season – or one of them at least. Olivia tried to get to the shop as early as possible in the day so she could get all of the bouquets put together before she had to go deliver them all. She really wished that they could hire someone specifically to deliver them, but it was a very small shop and they didn’t have a large amount of money to hire people.
“Jennifer, is the van all stocked up now?” she asked, rounding a corner in the shop with a bouquet of roses and baby’s breath in her arms.
“Almost! We could fit a few more inside,” said the shop assistant.
“Alright, dear, I’ll grab a couple more and then get going,” she said, returning to her work station to collect a few more of the orders in her arms to load into the van. It was very close to being packed tight, but she was able to find places for all of the bouquets. The majority of the flowers were for a specific hotel in town. They had flowers in each room, so they had ordered quite a few bouquets.
“Hi! I’m from the florist shop. I have flowers for the hotel,” she said, entering the hotel and going up to the front desk with a clipboard in hand,”Just sign right here and I’ll put all of the bouquets in place for you.” She smiled at the girl behind the counter and slid the clipboard over to her. Olivia thanked the girl and began her job of delivering the usual bouquets to each room.
She started on the top floor, figuring that would be the easiest. It was still very early, so she started with the empty rooms, not wanting to disturb anyone. There had been rumors around town of this particular hotel being haunted, so she couldn’t help but be a little jumpy. “H-hello?” she called out when she heard footsteps behind her in the hallway.
