Zelda had opted to stay late at the library. It was a Friday evening and that was the time when her house was always the loudest, it seemed. It was something that had always gotten on her nerves. She’d expressed her annoyance with the whole thing, but no one seemed to really change their behavior. It was all the same anyway. It seemed like she was always able to focus better at the library after hours. She was the one that usually closed up, so she was there late anyway. It was actually quite enjoyable – being surrounded by so many books, all for her.
After she placed the last book back on the appropriate shelf, she sighed and snatched up her purse and keys from the front desk. There were only a few lights left on. She slid her purse onto her shoulder and flipped the last lights off after she exited the building. Zelda quickly locked the front door behind her as she headed out to the parking lot.
She sighed as she got onto the road and flipped on a little Beethoven. There was just something about that composer that always seemed to relax her. Luckily, he was one of the more popular ones, so his music was incredibly easy to find. Zelda eased back into the seat as she began the drive home, already thinking about the tasks that she would have to do when she got home and the things on her to-do list for the next day.
Just as she was getting a little lost in her thoughts, her car began making some strange noises. Her eyes widened and she drove to the shoulder of the road just in time for her car to come to a complete stop. “Perfect. Absolutely perfect!” she said, annoyed, as she unbuckled her seat belt as she popped the hood of the car to investigate. Zelda wasn’t too handy when it came to cars, but she thought that maybe she might be able to figure out what was going on.
