After the Garretts had helped him realize what had happened to him all those years ago, Harry had made it a goal to make sure he had fun in life. He was able to rediscover his lovely, prankster personality and that was majorly what had led him to being an employee at this little antique costume and joke shop he’d discovered in downtown Augusta. It was a low position and it didn’t really show any future prospects, but Harry was the last guy that had a successful career on his mind. This job was perfect for him. Minimal responsibilities and he was actually paid to snoop around the colorful costumes and the entertaining jokes.
He was in the back room, restocking some of the shelves when he heard the jingling bell, announcing a customer’s entry to the shop. “Chip, you wanna go tend to the customer?” asked Harry to his co-worker, making it sound a bit more like an order than a suggestion. The other man merely grunted in response and pushed his thick glasses further up his nose. Harry glanced at him out of the corner of his eye from his position up on a step ladder. “Lazy ass,” he said, unable to keep himself from chuckling a little bit. Chip always hated messing with the customers, while Harry tended to enjoy that part of the job. He was a chatty person anyway – may as well actually have someone to talk to that would respond…unlike his co-worker.
He carefully descended the step ladder, not so accidentally bumping Chip gently in the head with his elbow. “Oh, sorry, didn’t see you there,” he said, before racing to the front of the shop before Chip could retaliate. He brushed his long hair out of his face and grinned at the person that had just entered the shop. “Well, hullo there. First customer we’ve had today, if you can believe it. What’re we looking for today?” he asked, casually leaning against the front counter.
