Alex’s birthday was coming up in the next few months and Nancy had been pondering over what she might be able to get him. His birthday was in November, so she had awhile to get something for him. Everyone in their family bought presents months in advance, though, and she didn’t want to be the slacker. Then, Zelda’s birthday was a month after, in December, so Nancy needed to keep her in mind, as well. Thankfully, Olivia’s birthday wasn’t until the springtime, so she had awhile to ponder over that present. As for Zelda and Alex, they were both pretty obvious about what they liked, so hopefully she would be able to come up with something. The problem would be getting them something that they didn’t already have. That was how she came up with the idea of an antique shop.
The idea hit her suddenly when she was walking down a shopping center, frustrated at not having come up with an idea yet. She slowly came to a stop when she saw a small, dark antique shop towards the end of the shopping center. Her jaw dropped and her eyes widened as she lowered her arms and looked into the window display, where there was what appeared to be a lacy wedding gown, an old record player, a few old comic books and a collection of stamps. “Perfect!” she said, excitedly before grabbing a hold of the handle, double checking that the shop was opened and headed inside.
She smiled and waved to the man behind the counter before starting to peruse the odds and ends that were laying around the shop. It didn’t look like there was tactic to what was set up where, so she would just have to dig. Nancy carefully moved through the shop, eyeing everything carefully. Nothing really stuck out to her…until she saw a maroon quill next to a black ink well. Her eyes widened and she immediately reached for it.
