Basics
Name: Victory
Alias: Tori
Sex Female
S/O: Asexual
Alias: Tori
Sex Female
S/O: Asexual
Alignment: Chaotic-Good
Age Approx. 30 years old
Species: Nekomata
Appearance:
She has a thick pelt of white fur, a lithe frame, and large eyes. The only thing that might indicate that she's anything other than a housecat is the two-tail feature common to nekomatas. And even then, if she keeps them together, it is often overlooked. Much to her dismay, she is often mistaken for a kitten despite being a fully grown adult. She does not have a human form, and relies on her unimposing appearance to avoid garnering any unwanted attention.
"You know you've f**ked up when I'm the bigger person here."
Personality
She may be little from a physical standpoint, but she definitely makes up for it with presence. She's feisty, extroverted, outgoing, excitable, social, daring, fearless, mischievous, cunning, inquisitive, loquacious, passionate, coquettish, bull-headed, and tenacious. These are the traits that she allows herself to show to anyone who won't overreact to a talking cat. If she decides that she wants someone or something, she stops at nothing until she has it. She's prideful, and carries herself as though she is ten feet small. Tori is the kind of person that if you tell her not to do something, she will do exactly that, and will try and make sure you're watching. She's foul-mouthed and has a tendency to call things as she sees them, but that goes both ways. If she decides that she likes you, she is warm, openly affectionate, and communicative. Too communicative, actually.
Being someone who has either a body that is dwarfed, or dwarfs others causes her to constantly be searching for her own middle ground. For Victory, this is simply something that does not exist for her. She was either helpless, or a giant monster that may or may not have accidentally set a few wildfires. It's a strange kind of conflict to have both types of insecurities.
What she doesn't advertise is her fierce, unwavering loyalty. As of now, only Torrid knows how her fidelity tends to flirt with obsession. She will-- and has-- sacrificed everything for a person, for an ideology, for her community, for her world. With the last one gone, she still has a burning need to continue trying to protect, even when the world is not her own. She can't bear the thought of another planet winding up like hers. What was once revenge driving her is now redemption.
"Someday you'll go far. And I hope you stay there."
History
Freely Shared Information: Victory is highly communicative, so most topics are fair game for her. She was born to Torrid's sister in a relatively peaceful period of Praesidio's history. Her community was thriving, and she grew up with plenty of space to roam, food to eat, and people to love. The wars and main antagonists had been taken down in a series of heroic acts, led by Tori's mother. At least, it seemed like that. She had plenty of misadventures with Torrid, and had her hand in some serious shenanigans. It wouldn't last.
The real catalyst she can really point to is the death of her brother. She will tell the story if prompted, and how it led to a series of events that engaged her community in a war that eventually had her fighting on her own, searching for her mother and uncle. She'll start to trail off at the point in the story where her mother comes back, soul split in two.
Iffy Topics: These are topics that she will be more vague on, but may give some insight. She'll talk about her relationship to Torrid, but will deny anyone calling her out on being angry with him. She might share about some of her time in Feral, but definitely not all. Her sister might be mentioned in passing, but anything more will have to be pried out of her.
No-Go Topics: She absolutely won't talk about the last time she saw her mother if she can avoid it.
Other Notable Information
Powers & Abilities: Victory is effectively powerless. Under great duress, she can start small fires, and has some substantial heat resistance, but that's about it. She hardly packs a punch other than some claws, but she's really, really hard to catch. Slippery little thing prefers to jump on her assailants and twist them in knots rather than try and attack them. Once you have her, though, you have her. Her main weapon is ingenuity, dexterity, and patience. She is a big believer in setting traps and moving stealthily, which she accomplishes with the heightened senses of an average cat.
It's actually a really good thing she's stuck small. She used to rely completely on shifting into her large form for self-defense, where she wielded strength, size, flames, and saber-fangs. She had no control over her pyromancy, though, and really caused more harm than good. She cannot access this form.
Weaknesses: Low physical strength is up there on the top weaknesses. She has two tails that can be grabbed, which has happened before. Her build is fragile and lightweight, so a direct hit with just about anything can kill her.
Phobias: Cryophobic. She is absolutely terrified of being on ice. She simply will not allow herself to touch the ground if there is ice or particularly hard snow around. Even the sound of someone chewing ice will set her off.
"Aw. You're so cute when you're not talking."
Trivia
- Victory's design and species is based on Kirara from Inuyasha
- Her paws are dexterous and can perform basic tasks like humans.
- She didn't earn her name from a battle. After seven grueling stillborn deaths, her mother was told that she would never give birth to a live child. Victory was the firstborn of three, which her mother considers one of her greatest triumphs.
- If you ever find yourself on her bad side, sushi is forgiveness food. She will almost always forgive.
- Her eyes are two-toned naturally. Sometimes, they do an involuntary switch.
- She hates, with a fiery passion, any kind of bug with yellow thoraxes. She will stomp and hunt them mercilessly, to the point of obsession and compulsion.
- Tori doesn't have much need for money, as she's a proficient hunter (of animals). But if she decides that she wants something, she's become an excellent thief.
- Victory is a classic alcoholic. But momma didn't raise no quitter.
- Torrid made sure that the first word Victory spoke was "quote" so that when she dies, her last word can be "unquote." Tori's mother was furious.
- Tori's idea of charity is being an excelling wingman.
- She is an obsessive groomer. Short of being in active combat, she can't stand being dirty for even a minute. She spent way too long in the grime of Feral, and will do everything to not let herself become that again.
- There is only a few types of fire that can burn her-- blue and black. Hopefully the only people who could produce them went down when Praesidio did. She can, however, suffer acid burns.
- Victory enjoys the rain, and will often be found just sitting in the downpours, something that she used to do with her mother.
- It's hard to see, but she does have an anti-possession seal carved into her back. Fur covers it, but the skin is raised and is most noticeable through touch. This is much like the vast majority of her scars.
- Where she's from, they had a different name for her species. But here, the closest term that resembles what she is would be nekomata or bakeneko from far Eastern cultures. She doesn't typically roll out with her real species when asked, just says "cat" and calls it a day.
- She hates anything to do with mazes. Mazes infuriate her beyond words.
- She is actually very comfortable being put into a pocket. It's her favorite place to sleep.
-- OUT OF CHARACTER --
Name/Alias: Kay
How you found us: Google search
How long you have been rping for: since 07 (9 years). I've had Tori for the past three years, and she was one of my main characters.
Other characters here: Torrid, various canons.
Anything else: I wanted to build trust before applying her, since she tends to get denied in applications for not having a human form. If you absolutely demand it, I'm willing to give her a human form, but I'd prefer not to. I hope she can be given a chance. She works surprisingly well in modern settings.
RP Sample: Meh. You've seen it.
