ooc; SEASON FOUR. EPISODE SIX.
"Agent Tyler, Agent Perry, meet Frank O'Brien." The brothers stood facing the local coroner who was unzipping a body bag to reveal a middle-aged man. "He died of a heart attack, right" Sam clarified. "Three days ago" the coroner confirmed, handing over Frank's file which Sam breezed through quickly. "But O'Brien was 44 years old and, according to this..." He looked up pointedly, tapping the file against his other hand. "A marathon runner." The coroner shrugged blandly. "Everybody drops dead sooner or later. It's why I got job security." "Yeah, but Frank kicked it here" Dean pointed out. "And just yesterday, two perfectly healthy men bit it in Maumee. All heart attacks, you don't think that's strange?" "Sounds like Maumee's problem to me" the coroner admitted, uninterested. "Why's the FBI give a damn, anyway?" The boys exchanged a look. "We just want to see the results of Frank's autopsy" Dean informed him. The coroner looked baffled. "What autopsy?" The boys exchanged another look. "The one you're going to do right now" Dean announced calmly.
"First dead body" the coroner asked ten minutes later, after they'd donned plastic aprons and gloves, as he was cutting into O'Brien's chest. Dean crossed his arms with a straight face. "Far from it." The coroner finished slicing and peeled back the flesh on either side, opening O'Brien up. "Oh, good. Because these suckers can get pretty ripe." He gestured to a tray next to Dean. "Hey, hand me those rib cutters would you?" Sam looked on while Dean did as asked, making a slight face as the coroner snapped several ribs with the cutters. Dean glanced down at Frank's left hand, which was the hand closer to them and frowned, lifting that hand to get a closer look at the marking on the ring finger. "Is that from a wedding ring? I didn't think Frank was married." The coroner stayed focused on the ribs he was cutting. "Ain't my department." While Dean was holding up Frank's arm, Sam noticed something else. "Any idea how he got these?" He gestured to the scratches lining Frank's arm. "You know what? When you drop dead, you actually tend to drop" the coroner pointed out. "Body probably got scraped up when it hit the ground...huh..." He tilted his head to the side. Sam frowned. "What?" "I-I can't find any blockages in any of the major arteries." The coroner set aside the rib cutters and broke off the heart, holding it up to study. Sam held back a gag with difficulty. "Heart looks pretty damn healthy actually" the coroner went on, squinting at it. "Hold that a second, would you?" He passed the heart to Dean without giving him much of a chance to agree or object. Sam smirked. The coroner picked up the cutters again and went to work inside Frank. Suddenly, a burst of red liquid splattered upwards, getting Sam in the face. The coroner looked guilty. "Oh sorry. Spleen juice."
Sam wasn't smirking anymore.
