Life Or Death // Zelda & Olivia //

Olivia silently nodded, unable to keep the disappointment from her face. There was a small part of her that was hoping that the healing had been all her, even the sudden energy burst. She knew that the important thing was that Sam was safe and healed, but she would have liked to think that she would be able to do that sort of healing again. It was nice to know that she had a hand in saving a life, but maybe this would just be a one time thing. Unless she was somehow able to make her power stronger…maybe she just needed to practice it more. “Well, thank you for that,” she said quietly.

Zelda’s eyes flashed to Dean when he snapped at the angel. His agitation was far past obvious now. “I suppose not,” said Zelda, casting a glance at Dean. Still skeptical, she watched the angel closely before taking a few steps forward. “Are you really an angel?” she asked, tilting her head to the side, keeping her eyes on him.

Honestly, Zelda really wanted proof, but she merely nodded and wandered over to where Olivia was. She noticed that her cousin appeared to be rather pale – she wasn’t sure if it was because of the healing or if it was because of the angel that had appeared. Olivia had always been quite religious, so Zelda was sure that this was quite the experience for her. “Are you feeling alright?” she asked, gently nudging her cousin with her elbow.

Olivia took a deep breath and pulled her gaze away from the angel to look at Zelda. “Yes…yes, I’m fine. Just…tired. I’m just tired,” said Olivia, giving her cousin a smile to try to ease her worries. The women had slipped into their own conversation, separate from the Winchesters and the angel.

“You’re looking very pale,” said Zelda, brushing some of Olivia’s hair out of her face. Olivia closed her eyes and nodded. “It took a lot of energy. If I hadn’t gotten hat extra burst, I wouldn’t have been able to do it,” she said, shaking her head, still feeling rather disappointed.

The two women were pulled out of their conversation by Dean’s sudden outburst. It honestly made Zelda a little perturbed, but she obviously didn’t have the full story – considering Dean mentioned a certain angel. She hesitated for a moment or two, but went after Dean. Zelda carefully shut the door behind her and walked out onto the porch, where she found him. “Dean, what’s going on?”

Zelda sighed and tilted her head to the side upon hearing Dean’s question. She resisted the urge to roll her eyes. Honestly, it was no less than what she had expected. Dean was a very closed off person – she learned that quickly, even with the few times she had interacted with him. It was something that she found herself relating to because she hated to delve into the emotional side of things, despite occasionally being highly emotional herself. Emotions really made things messy and were just so awkward to have to deal with. It was why she left most of the emotional talks to Olivia or Alex, who were both very good at that sort of thing.

“Dean, I think you know exactly what I’m talking about. We don’t know each other too well, but…I’ve never seen you blow up like that before,” she said, crossing her arms over her chest and popping her hip,”I’m not going to try to force you to talk about anything because I completely respect your not wanting to discuss it, but…can you at least enlighten me?”

Zelda had honestly expected for Dean to give her some sort of brush off. And if that had been the case, she probably would have dropped the subject. It was a pet peeve of hers when people insisted that you talk about something that you really didn’t want to talk about – whether it was an emotional discussion or not. Dean took her by surprise, though, and began explaining the situation.

She raised her eyebrows as Dean explained about this particular angel and made a brief mention about the apocalypse. Zelda was able to connect the dots with the angel that he mentioned on the porch and the angel he had mentioned while still in the living room. She prepared herself for the explanation. She moved forward and lowered herself down onto the step next to Dean.

Zelda kept her arms crossed over her chest and stared down at the ground as she listened to what Dean had to say. She only turned to look at him when he mentioned that he started to like the angel in question. Zelda was taken aback by how he was talking about Castiel. She couldn’t imagine having to go through something like that. She’d never lost anyone close to her like that before. She had come so close, like with the hunters in London. Her father had been so close to being murdered.

“My goodness… Dean, I’m so sorry,” she said, finally speaking up after he had finished talking,”I completely understand why you got so upset.” She slowly nodded and returned to staring at the ground again, moving her feet so as to avoid a small trail of ants that were making their way across the stone step. Zelda really wanted to say that he shouldn’t let the regret eat at him, but she knew that he probably didn’t want to hear something like that at the moment. She turned and looked at the door. “Do you think he’s still in there?”

Zelda heaved a sigh as she stared at the closed front door. She felt a little bad about leaving Sam and Olivia to deal with the angel, but in all honesty, there was just something about him that made her uncomfortable. She wasn’t sure if it was simply because he was an angel or perhaps because he was being continuously cryptic about what he was doing in her house. “I could tell. He wasn’t exactly being straightforward. I probably shouldn’t have let him inside,” she said with a sigh,”But on the other hand, he probably would have found another way inside, hmm?” She briefly glanced back at Dean. “Is it terrible that I don’t want to go back inside for a few moments?”

Meanwhile, Olivia was glancing awkwardly between Sam and Lionel, who seemed to be in some sort of daze. She nodded when Sam tried to start some sort of conversation. “Yes! So…Lionel, this is rather exciting, I've never met an angel before. Was there something else you needed? I really do appreciate you sending that energy my way. I wouldn't have been able to do it without you,” she said, as she made her way over to stand next to Sam, doing her best to lessen the awkward tension between the three of them. She had to admit that she felt disappointed with this particular angel, at least. He wasn’t at all like she had imagined angels to be – both in appearance and personality.

A small smile spread across Zelda’s face at Dean’s reply. “Sam and Olivia can deal with him for few minutes,” she said, with a light laugh. She dropped her arms from being crossed over her chest and rested her hands on the stone stair. They fell into a moment’s silence, which felt comfortable. She glanced up at the sky, which was perfectly clear. “I’m really glad we could help you two this evening,” she said, not looking at him,”Even if the healing wasn’t 100% Olivia’s doing.”

Olivia’s smile faltered when she heard Lionel’s reply to everything she said. Her eyebrows furrowed, confused at the robotic response. She glanced at Sam for some sort of explanation, but didn’t receive much clarification. The tension in the room had just gotten worse after the angel pretty much stated that he didn’t care that he had helped. “Yes…well…either way, we really appreciate your help,” she said with a nod, trying to keep the mood light, but failing terribly. Oh, she really wished Alex was home this evening. He was the best conversationalist that Olivia knew – he could probably carry on a conversation with a brick wall, if he really wanted to. She shifted so that her back was to Lionel and leaned towards Sam. “Are all angels like this?” She had a sinking feeling that the answer was yes, which was completely disappointing to her. “So, is there something else you needed? You can see that your energy arrived here no problem,” she said, motioning to Sam.

“It’s too bad Alex is out tonight. He can go on talking about the tiniest little thing for hours. It’s sort of rare when he is quiet, unless he’s reading or writing,” she said, laughing despite herself. Zelda absolutely adored her brother, but there was no denying that he had a talking problem. He was always bringing notes home from his teachers, reprimanding him for talking nonstop during class. She briefly glanced in Dean’s direction when he replied to her, but shortly looked back at the sky. “I don’t blame you. I would be absolutely out of my mind if anything like that happened to anyone in my family.” It just made her think back to when Alex was shot. His wound was nowhere near as bad as Sam’s had been and it had scared her enough that night. “It’s a good thing we were home,” she said, thinking about how she and Olivia had declined Nancy’s and Alex’s offers to go out with them that night.

Olivia frowned and pursed her lips when Lionel continued to be quiet in regards to her questions about what else he needed there. “Well…that’s rather disappointing,” she said, crossing her arms over her chest, sparing the angel a glance before staring at the opposite wall again. She glanced up at Sam for a moment. “Is there any way to get him to leave by chance?” she asked. The angel was just making everyone uncomfortable. She had given up on even trying to talk to him, so she opted to just talk to Sam instead. Olivia glanced in the direction of the front door. “Do you think Dean is alright?”
