Sam stared. "My bad" Dean echoed, putting words to the emotions swirling around in Sam's head. "Kid, "my bad" ain't gonna cut it. See, if you were of voting age... you'd be dead. Because we would kill you." He pinned Gary with a hard stare. Gary glanced over his shoulder at Sam for help who stared impassively back. Normally he was the softer of the two, yes, but after being forced to live in a teenager's body for a few days, he wasn't feeling so forgiving. "So either you straighten up and fly right or we WILL kill you" Dean finished, pulling Gary's attention back to him. "Are we clear?" Gary nodded quickly, swallowing hard. "Crystal." Sam and Dean swapped looks, nodding and speaking in unison. "Good."

Dean pulled the Impala to a halt outside of Gary's house twenty minutes later. A light rain was beginning to fall. Sam got out of the passenger side front seat while Gary climbed from the passenger side rear seat, looking in trepidation up at the house. "Great" he muttered, obviously not in a huge hurry to go inside. Dean and Nora were on the other side of the car, Nora still wrapped in her blanket, looking spooked and out of it, but Dean was listening to Gary and Sam's conversation, Sam could tell. "Gary, take it from someone who knows" Sam instructed him with a clap on the shoulder. "Chin up, man. Your life ain't that bad." Gary stared at him like he'd lost his mind. "Uh...you met my parents." "Yeah." Sam shook his head, his wet hair slapping him in the face briefly. "So what? It's your life. You don't like their plan for you, tell them to cram it. Rebel a little bit." Realizing what he'd said, he quickly added an amendment to that suggestion. "In a healthy, non-Satanic way, of course." Gary smiled and nodded understandingly. Sam glanced in Dean and Nora's direction before returning his focus to Gary and letting him in on the not-so-subtle-secret he'd picked up on that clearly the little nerd had not yet realized. "By the way, you know why Nora’s into witchcraft?" "What do you mean?" Gary spared a glance for Nora as well. She lifted one hand and waved at him with her best attempt at a smile despite still being unsettled. "She doesn't like Satan, you moron" Sam explained pointedly. "She likes YOU." "Really??" Gary's eyes lit up. "You think?" "Yeah, I know" Sam promised, shaking his head with a faint smile. "I'm telling you, kid – I wish I had your life." "You do?" Gary straightened up a little, looking less miserable about going inside. "Thanks." He and Nora headed for the house. Sam and Dean watched them leave. "That was a nice thing to say" Dean remarked, opening the driver's side door. "Totally lied" Sam returned promptly, making a face.
"Kid's life sucked ass."
