Dean sighed lazily, tossed the blade from his left hand to his right, and began strolling towards them, taking his time. "Sam...I gotta say...this is a little bit hypocritical of you. I mean...when YOU were dying and I stepped in, doing whatever I could to save you...you threw a bitchfit. Wouldn't speak to me for weeks and then only very formally for awhile after that. Remember Sammy? You didn't want to be brothers anymore." Sam flinched, both at the memory and the cold way Dean was spitting words at him. "It's not really Dean" he had to mentally remind himself, his shoulders stiffening. Dean was on a roll, moving closer still. "You even told me...flat out...that if the situation was reversed, you would just let me die." His lips twisted upwards into a mildly amused smirk. "And now here we are...and what are you doing? Trying to reason...with a DEMON. Trying to bring your precious big bro back from the "dead"..." He put air quotes around the final word mockingly. Sam exhaled sharply, his grip on Ruby's knife tightening.
Sure, the things Dean was saying weren't necessarily wrong, but the situation had been different then. And sure maybe Sam had thought he meant those things when he said them, but he'd been pissed about the whole Gadreel thing. And when it came right down to it, saying he would stand aside and let Dean die, and actually doing it were two different things entirely. "You're wasting your efforts" Dean drawled. "Your brother is gone. Has been for awhile. Take a good long look at the new and improved Dean." He held his arms out wide. "I'll get him back" Sam insisted, coaching himself through each breath as Dean stopped about a foot from them, the first blade hanging lazily by one side. The brothers locked eyes. The silence in the cafeteria was palpably tense. They both seemed to know a fight was coming, but was waiting for the other to strike first.
"You sure you wanna do this little brother" Dean asked tauntingly, breaking the silence after a few minutes. Sam swallowed hard.
"I'm sure."
ooc; Jane Paladin. -- finished; so I was thinking that as the boys fight, maybe crowley sends in a goon or two to keep jane busy so she can't help sam? what do you think?
