Everyone in the room was staring as Teddy flung herself at Past Dean. Present Dean crossed his arms and tapped one foot impatiently. When they'd finally separated, he asked with exaggerated annoyance, "you done?" They had a serious mission to talk about. Teddy could stay if she wanted to, only because he knew that it would waste even more time trying to wrestle her out of there. He knew he could do it too. He knew she was scared of him, whether she admitted it out loud or not. But it was just a whole lot of time and energy that could be better spent mapping out how they were going to take down the devil.
Present Dean waved Past Dean closer to the table, laying out a map. Several red circles were drawn all over it, indicating open croat hot zones. Chuck, Cas, Reesa, and Past Dean all leaned closer as Present Dean jabbed a finger at one of the circles in the middle. "That's where the devil is." Chuck and Reesa leaned back, exchanging grim looks. Cas said out loud what they were all thinking. "Great. It's in the center of a hot zone." Present Dean lifted his finger from the map, eyeing Cas accusingly. "Are you saying my plan is reckless?" Cas leaned back in his chair, kicking his feet up and resting them on the table. "Are you suggesting we march right up through the front doors, past all the croats, demons, and human shields and shoot the devil?" Present Dean didn't beat around the bush with his simple, blunt answer. "Yes."
Cas nodded, thinking this over. "Then yes, that's what I'm saying" he finally agreed. "Or if you don't like reckless I could call it insane. Or insusient maybe." Present Dean rolled his eyes. "Are you in?" Cas dropped his feet to the ground with a sigh. "Of course. You know I am." Present Dean nodded briskly, waves of authority practically rolling off of him. "Ok. Let's load the trucks and gather the others. I want to be on the road by midnight." Which was only an hour away.
Past Dean watched in silence as Cas, Chuck, and Reesa shuffled past him out of the cabin. When it was finally just him, himself, and Teddy, he spoke up. "Not that I'm complaining or trying to rock the boat or anything, but uh...why ARE you taking me?" Present Dean was rifling through his open duffel bag. "Relax you'll be fine" he assured Past Dean dismissively. "Zach's looking out for you right?" Past Dean had been leaning against a wall for awhile but at these words he pushed off of it, straightening. "No, that's not what I mean." He was not scared of the mission or the devil. Which probably should have said something right there. "I want to know what's going on" he finished, narrowing his eyes.
Because something was definitely going on.
