Dean could tell that Amora wasn't all too happy with his comment about not being zapped places and having to walk instead. Walking must be pretty slow for angels who are used to moving at speeds up around thousands of feet per second. But Dean had no issues pissing people...or angels...or demons, or monsters, or anything...off. It was just how he was and always had been. So he just kept walking, a few feet ahead of Amora and Sam, the latter of whom was trying to find a diplomatic way to answer the posed question. "I've been better" he finally settled on. "But honestly, it's nothing we can't handle." He threw the 'we' in there as an impulse, knowing Dean was listening even if he pretended not to be. Sam would do everything he could to handle his problems on his own and not have to burden his brother with them on top of his own problems, but he knew that wouldn't stop Dean from trying to help. Dean would do anything he could to help his younger brother. He'd already proven that multiple times.
Dean, up ahead, was indeed listening. Even without turning around, he could tell that Sam was only saying the 'we' to appease him. He could tell a lot from just Sam's voice. There was nothing he didn't know about that kid. Abandoning the pretense that he hadn't been listening, Dean announced stiffly, "that's right. WE can handle it. We were handling things on our own just fine before you angels started trying to yank us around like dogs on leashes." For 29 years of his life he hadn't even known they existed. And then suddenly they were everywhere. First with the seals and then the apocalypse and then just showing up trying to make people do what they wanted. And by people, he mostly meant himself.
Freaking Angels.
ooc; PS -- sorry Dean is being a jackass lol he is having some major Cas withdrawal/hating angels issues these days xD
